Berlenga Island – 280 million history!
The Berlengas archipelago is a real geological monument, important record of Earth’s history and formation of continents and oceans.
In the Berlengas Islands arise magmatic and metamorphic rocks, pretty red deformed granites , gneisses and schist that it is thought that have been formed about 280 million years ago during the formation of a major mountain. Later, Berlenga Islands were affected by the movements that led to the fragmentation of Pangaea.
